1) All of the Legion camps are forward bases where direct military service is given the most weight and is of the most immediate importance. Because only Legionary males are involved in that service, they look down upon females, strangers and civilians alike.
2) The Hub isn't far from Nevada and merchants have been traveling through that area for a while. Bottlecaps can be exchanged directly for water there, so merchants carry them because they weigh a lot less.
3) Much to the NCR's dismay, one of the clauses in the New Vegas treaty forbids them from installing a permanent civilian radio station in the Mojave Region.

14) The punishment for cowardice and defeat in Caesar's Legion is decimation: the faulty units are divided into groups of ten, and one soldier of each group is executed, regardless of the individual degree of fault or rank and distinction.
15) Life in Caesar's Legion society is harsh for the weak and the slaves, but their children are eventually raised and treated as any other members.
16) Homosexuality is officially punished by death in Caesar's Legion, as breeding and raising new soldiers is of the utmost importance, but some Centurions are more lenient towards it, seeing it as a way for soldiers to bond together and to boost their fighting spirit.

18) It is said that the first rangers of the New California Republic were inspired by the Desert Ranger follower of the mythical Vault Dweller. History later led to the Ranger Unification Treaty in 2271.

20) Shady Sands is the capital city of the New California Republic. It is the largest settlement in the post-War United States.

33) Most members of the Brotherhood of Steel are usually gruff in dealing with outsiders, but not hostile to them..unless their secrecy or Pre-War technology is involved.
34) The Lost Hills is a pre-war government bunker in Southern California and the headquarters of the Brotherhood of Steel. Mysterious and impenetrable, it is the subject of myths and legends amongst many wastelanders.
35) Formerly, only the best Knights were promoted to Paladins after many years of service, to ensure their experience with the Brotherhood arsenal. Nowadays, a full Knighthood for every soldier would take too much time.
36) The Shi of San Francisco were paid a very healthy amount of money when they sold the Gun Runners the rechambered schematics of many weapons from behind the Iron and Velvet Curtains.
37) The Wright family of New Reno recently started a profitable business plan of selling some of their bootleg alcohol as ethanol fuel to the growing economy of the NCR.
38) While strict, the Brotherhood is a fair society to its members - brothers are treated equally, expected to respect other castes and, while highly disciplined, allowed room for friendship, camaraderie and romance.
39) Under normal circumstances, the ability to become an Elder and lead the Brotherhood is reserved for Paladins, although there is one exception, Elijah, who was a Scribe. Since Elder is primarly a military rank, the civilian title of "Father" was given to him.
40) The Brotherhood grew angry when various salvaging operations began in the Glow, a location which the Brotherhood came to regard highly both for their fallen comrades and the pre-Great War technology located there, with Dayglow ghouls at the forefront.

48) The NCR's money initially relied on coins minted from gold. But after the Brotherhood of Steel destroyed NCR's gold reserves, their money is now instead backed with water reserves and issued as banknotes.
49) The Ciphers are a tribe of scientifically-gifted people. They live concealed in the hills and are usually dismissed as normal tribals, but they spend their days memorizing pre-War schematics no contemporary Wastelander can understand.
50) Legion tactics commonly involve sending two lines of Recruits and Primes, then a third line of Veterans that devastate the opponents that have tired themselves fighting the less valuable troops.
51) All members of Caesar's society are forced into specific roles. Soldiers of the Legion have no more personal freedom than their slaves.
52) After the death of President Tandi, her successors would gradually change the direction of the NCR. Rapidly expanding the Republic's borders in every direction in a more imperialistic fashion, they sacrificed some of the NCR's principles and moral high ground in the process.
53) The heart of the NCR's territory isn't far from New Vegas, but the Mojave Wasteland only has a few access points.
54) Caesar's Legion has the practice of damnatio memoriae, in which a person's name is removed from official records and mustn't ever be mentioned again, under penalty of death.
55) NCR's money is fiat. The NCR dollars are not payable in specie, and the money is of low value relative to caps due to inflation.
56) Caesar's Legion money is made of precious metals for the same reasons ancient cultures did: they are not consumables, they are rare, and they are difficult to counterfeit.
57) Every community in the Mojave Wasteland that is not located directly next to a source of water has a water reserve that is filled by caravans bringing water in and selling it.
